Transfer Between Registered Providers

The National Code 2007 restricts the capacity of students to transfer to other providers prior to completing six months of their principal course of study.

If the student has completed 6 months of his/her principal course of study, the student is able to transfer to another provider without requesting permission or a release letter.

If the student is changing provider and has not completed 6 months of his/her principal course of study at Holmesglen, the student is required to provide supporting documents / evidence of compelling or compassionate circumstances in order for Holmesglen to consider his/her request for a release letter.

Students wishing to apply for a letter of release will need to complete The Application for Release Letter.

Application for Release Letter.pdf

There is no cost attached to applying for a letter of release; however students will need to contact the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) to seek advice on whether a new visa is required.

All applications will be assessed on the basis of Holmesglen’s Terms and Conditions of Enrolment, the Fee Payment and Refund Procedure, the study plan and declaration submitted by the student in their application.

Where the student is under 18:

  • student must also provide a written confirmation that the parent or legal guardian supports the transfer and
  • where the student is not being cared for in Australia by a parent or suitable nominated relative, the valid enrolment offer also confirms that the registered provider will accept the responsibility for approving student’s accommodation, support and general welfare arrangements as per Standard 5 (Younger Students).
